About Ashlin
My approach to counselling is warm, flexible, and grounded in both clinical training and lived experience. With over 15 years in the non-profit and social services sectors, I’ve supported individuals from all walks of life through a wide range of challenges including depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, body image concerns, substance misuse, financial difficulties, career transitions, self-acceptance struggles, grief, illness, trauma, and other emotional difficulties that affect overall functioning and well-being.
This work has shaped my deep belief in the power of empathy, non-judgment, and practical emotional support. I take a holistic view of each person’s well-being, exploring the biological, psychological, and social factors that influence their experience. While I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness, I prioritize what works best for each individual, helping them feel heard, supported, and understood. I often use humour to help build connection and create a sense of ease. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where people feel truly seen and empowered to move toward a life that feels more meaningful and manageable.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, with clinical training that includes supporting individuals facing complex mental health challenges at Vancouver Coastal Health’s Hope Centre. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
