About Shawna

"My journey into the counselling profession has not been a straight path, but it has been one full of curiosity about the world around me, and continuous self-exploration.

Following a bachelors degree in Psychology I pursued a second degree in Forest Resource Management and spent the better part of a decade working amongst the beautiful forests of British Columbia. My time spent in the outdoors has led to a curiosity about how the natural world can enhance our mental well-being. During my first maternity leave I began studying to obtain a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology - fast forward, and here we are today!

My person-centred, compassion-based approach to counselling can be described as eclectic and combines a variety of approaches involving mindfulness, somatic work, and cognitive-behavioural techniques.  I am interested in exploring the relationship between nature and experiential therapy and would love to offer a platform for bringing nature into the therapeutic space."

About Jessica

"As individuals grow and develop throughout their lives, challenges will inevitably come, and managing these challenges often will experience moments where they feel stuck. Seeking help in these crucial moments matters and can be life-changing. I realized early as a youth that I wanted to help make a difference in people's lives. I believe no man is an island, and as social beings, we seek acceptance and a sense of belonging and to be understood.

My initial degree was in psychology, and following I pursued a graduate diploma in Psychosocial rehabilitation studies. I felt I needed to enhance the skills suited for the role of counselling and decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, which has been an intriguing journey.

Exploring all the possibilities and finding solutions that are person-centred would be my goal and seeing the positive outcomes would bring me the most joy. I intend to create a calming, non-judgmental, and friendly atmosphere where you would be free to share your stories and rewrite your narratives."
