THERAPY DOESN'T ALWAYS HAVE TO HAPPEN SITTING ACROSS FROM EACH OTHER IN AN OFFICE.

Walk & Talk Therapy

Walk & Talk Therapy offers a more flexible, grounded approach that allows movement, fresh air, and nature to become part of the therapeutic process.

Sessions are designed to meet you where you’re at, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Some sessions may involve gentle walking on accessible paths, while others may include sitting, pausing, or simply spending time outdoors together. There’s no pressure to perform, exercise, or “keep up.”

Being outdoors can create a sense of openness and space that helps some people access thoughts and emotions more naturally than they might in a traditional office setting.

What Walk & Talk Therapy Can Feel Like

Sessions are collaborative and paced around you. We meet at a thoughtfully selected outdoor location that balances comfort, accessibility, privacy, and safety.

Depending on what feels supportive that day, sessions may include:

  • Walking together at a comfortable pace

  • Sitting at different points along the route

  • Reflective pauses or “sit spots”

  • Gentle mindfulness or somatic check-ins

  • Space to process emotions while moving through nature

Some people find it easier to open up when they’re not sitting face-to-face. Others notice that movement helps them feel calmer, less confined, or more connected to themselves.

Who This Approach Supports

Walk & Talk Therapy may be a good fit for people who:

  • Feel restless, anxious, or stuck in traditional therapy settings

  • Find it easier to talk while moving

  • Feel more regulated outdoors or in nature

  • Are navigating stress, burnout, grief, or life transitions

  • Prefer a less direct or less clinical environment

  • Are athletes or people who naturally process while moving (but don't worry, you don''t have to be an athlete to give it a try!)

  • Are teens or youth who engage more comfortably with movement and outdoor spaces

This approach is adaptable and can support many different comfort levels and abilities.

Practical Information

A few things to know ahead of time:

  • Sessions are adapted to different mobility levels, walking is always optional

  • Routes are chosen carefully with accessibility and comfort in mind

  • Sessions continue in most weather conditions, with flexibility when needed

  • Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather

  • Because sessions take place outdoors, there is always some possibility of encountering other people, wildlife, or environmental distractions

  • Your counsellor will have appropriate safety planning and considerations in place for outdoor sessions

A Different Way to Connect

For some people, healing happens more naturally in motion, in nature, and outside the walls of a traditional office. Walk & Talk Therapy offers space to slow down, breathe, reflect, and process in a way that feels more grounded and human.

If you’re curious whether this approach might fit for you, we’d be happy to connect.
